There is a very fine line between what is classed as an advertisement and what isn’t.
In my view, although that can be changed with a consensus, a post that is discussing a site’s viability etc needs to include the URL of the site for other members to have a look at if they want to enter into the discussion. That is not advertising unless the URL is a referral URL. But if the general wording is such that members are invited to or it hints at inviting members to have a look and join, that is advertising and thus belongs in the Advertising section. Some posts have been broadly discussing the site yet also hinted at members joining it and it is often difficult to determine just where the advertising line lies. Contrary to some opinions I am not a robot but a mere vulnerable human being with human frailties. Insanity for a start! Or put another way I can view the same post slightly differently on different days.So boys and girls, men and women, ladies and gentlemen, guys and gals and for our Australian members cobbers and sheilas help me out here and please have a little think before posting. Any input on clarifying what is or isn’t an advert would be helpful. The next problem is where to put this post. It’s not an ad but it is about advertising and should go in that section. But not being an advert it can go in General Talk as well but that would make it a duplicate post so I would have to delete them both. Who said a Mods job was easy? It’s like being council for the prosecution and defence and also the judge and jury and in some case being the reporter that reports the proceedings. So I am going to give myself special dispensation and allow a duplicate post. And now I must go and lie down in a darkened room to recover. My brain cell hurts. ![]() |

I am now totally confused. Because what some consider to be advertising is just information in order for others to make informed decisions. I don't want to step out of line. I also want to work within the rules honestly. I want urls so I can take a look and judge for myself. If a referral code is included, then I have the option to decide for myself.
Does that make any sense? Appreciate your feedback. |

Hi savvy, welcome and thanks for the question. Our aim here is to keep a clean area that is easy to navigate for all the many users of Goldentalk. We offer the opportunity to put referral links in your signature, as you will notice if you look at the bottom of users messages.
If a post is intended as "information" a link without a referral is all that is needed, once a referral link is added on, it really becomes "disguised advertising" in most instances so it is best not to allow it other than in the Advertising section. If you are not advertising, then there is not need to put a referral link in right? ![]() I hope your stay here is a happy one, and best of luck with your investments! |

Hello savvy! Glad you could join us.
As I stated in the opening post there is a very fine line between an ad and a discussion or information post and it can be confusing and is difficult to define and explain. In the past some members, wanting to increase the exposure to the site they are promoting, placed the bona fide post in Advertising, which was fine. But they also posted in other sections like General Talk and disguised the wording to make it look like a discussion when in fact they were inviting people to join the discussed site rather than discus it or make comments about it. Whether you are an experienced HYIP investor or new to the HYIP world a very warm welcome to you from our happy band of forum members. That doesn’t mean that we set fire to you. I’m jambutty (the ancient one) and over there sleeping in the corner is akuma99. Sssh! Don’t wake him he’s on night shift. jeFF is around here somewhere and if you see a shark swimming around don’t panic, it’s only the boss. He doesn’t bite! All that lot out there are the members. In the Indonesian section we have NDA corp to keep an eye on things. We have few forum rules, mainly don’t be rude or use foul language – no referral URL’s except in the Advertising section and personal signatures. Anywhere else the basic site URL would be useful so that the reader knows what site you are writing about. If your discussion about the site reads more like an advert than a discussion it will be moved. Please do not refer to your own signature – you can refer to signatures in general though. No multiple or duplicate posts, they will all be deleted. Try to put your posts in the proper section. If you are not sure post it anyway and someone will move it if necessary. Before posting have a look around to see if your topic already has a thread and join it. In the “I Have Been Paid By ….” and “Scam” sections please make the title of your thread the name of the site being discussed – it makes it easy for others to find. We look forward to you being an active member of this forum and reading what you have to say. We hope that the information and advice that you find on here will be useful to you. I guess it all depends on if it goes more than once in the same area.

Thank you to those who have and thanks also to those who do. Just a reminder to any member who has forgotten how to change their profile. Go to UserCP and select Edit Profile from the menu on the left. Find the Location field near the bottom of the page and enter the details. Hit Save Changes and the job is done. |
